Our
Robots
We
use Pioneer 1 robots manufactured by ActivMedia
Robotics, which have been heavily modified.
We replaced the motors, the motor controllers (using now
Pioneer-2 boards), and the
batteries, and modified the mechnical body.
In addition,
we added Sick laser-scanners
for doing self-localization and obstacle recognition. The eyes of our robots are digital Sony cameras
with a Firewire interface. These plug into Sony
Picturebooks, which serve as the brains of our robotic
soccer players.
Finally, together with Sick, we have developed a custom kicking device.
The
goalie is called Sepp and the other players are named Otto,
Jupp , Franz
and Berti.
